The CCID International Student Scholarship is sponsored by LanguageCertand awards selected international students with a $1,000 scholarship to study at a CCID member institution that accepts LanguageCert’s International ESOL (iESOL) test for English language proficiency.
Institutions are eligible to participate in the scholarship program if:
- You are a CCID member institution with a 1-3 year membership or board membership (University Partners and Outreach Partners are not eligible).
- You officially accept the iESOL exam as proof of English language proficiency. There is no cost for this. You simply have to include the iESOL exam on the list of exams accepted by your institution.
- You agree to verify enrollment of the winning student from your institution as of your official census day.
Pioneer Program Members are those members that sign up before our inaugural launch of the program. To be a Pioneer Program Member you must sign up by May 1, 2022, by filling out this webform indicating that your institution intends to officially accept the iESOL exam as proof of English proficiency.
Your institution will receive the following benefits as a Pioneer Program Member:
- Inclusion in initial marketing campaigns both CCID and LanguageCert will deploy, providing you with significant free marketing exposure. CCID will have a dedicated webpage listing participating institutions.
- Pioneer Program members will receive 3 free exams to give to potential students to jumpstart recruitment. Students need to book their iESOL exam here.
- Students applying to Pioneer Program Member schools get Priority Points on their scholarship application for 2022/2023.
- Priority points are extra points applied to an applicant’s overall application score. Priority points will be given to any student who has met the eligibility requirements (see below) and is planning to attend a Pioneer Program Member institution for Fall 2022 or Spring 2023.
International students are eligible to apply for the scholarship if:
- They are a new international student accepted for full-time study at a CCID member institution that accepts the iESOL exam as proof of English proficiency.*
- They have taken the LanguageCert's iESOL and submitted it to the CCID member institution that you plan to attend.
Deadline for international students to apply for Fall 2022: July 1, 2022 at 11:59 PM CST. The winners will be announced July 29, 2022.
*Eligibility:
Eligible international students include any student who will be in their first semester of study at the college level (Spring or Fall starts) and are recognized by the institution as an international student who does not reside in the country in which they will be attending school. For example, international students attending high school are not eligible unless they are required to take an English proficiency test by their institution. Awards will only be made to students whose enrollment is confirmed by the CCID member school on the official census day (varies by school). Funds for the scholarship will be sent directly to the institution and applied directly to the student's account.
Student application requirements:
Students must submit answers for the two prompts below (maximum 300 words per prompt). Answers should be submitted on a word document and uploaded to the application site as indicated. Scholarships for this program are awarded on a competitive basis, and all applications will be reviewed and scored by the CCID scholarship committee. Please do not exceed the word limit for the essays as it will disqualify your application. Answers will be evaluated and scored based on the quality of the responses and how well they reflect your personal story and/or experiences.
Students must submit answers to BOTH prompts and adhere to the length requirements.
