The Werner Kubsch Award is presented annually to an international education advocate from a CCID member institution who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in international education related to community colleges and similar institutions worldwide. A nominee must be a leading advocate for international education through curriculum/culture development, study abroad, faculty exchanges, educational linkages, or other international projects at his or her institution; and should exemplify career dedication to the field. See past winners.
If the nominee holds a faculty position, that person must also hold some type of leadership position in international education (e.g., Director, Senior International Officer, Coordinator). Nominees must be a current employee of a dues-paying member institution. Self nominations are acceptable. There is an expectation that the award winner serve on the Werner Kubsch selection committee to select the next year's winner.
To nominate an individual, please provide the information below along with a 300-500 word summary on why you think this individual should be honored with this award (uploaded document below). You will need to indicate 3 criteria from the following list in which the nominee has excelled, and under which the nomination is being submitted.
Criterion 1 - Developing the global competence of students at the institution by helping them understand the impact of other countries and cultures on their daily lives
Criterion 2 - Expanding opportunities for students to study abroad
Criterion 3 - Developing opportunities for faculty and staff to participate in international professional development or exchange
Criterion 4 - Developing international partnerships that further the impact of international education at the institution
Criterion 5 - Building capacity for welcoming international students through expanding pathways for study or innovative support structures on campus
Criterion 6 - Advancing internationalization of campus curriculum through new or systemic models
If the conference award committee selects your nominee as a finalist, CCID will contact the nominee to ask them to submit additional material to support their nomination. If they accept the nomination, they will be asked to provide a resume/vitae, a support letter for the nominee from the institutional executive (president, chancellor, rector, CEO) and additional documents they may deem relevant to the nomination.
Nomination deadline: November 17, 2024.
